Mike Guglielmucci – Pray Only Now?

// September 25th, 2008 // No Comments » // News

I know that maybe this subject is a little over-mentioned since several blogs and sites here in Brazil (and other places) talked about it, but I’d like to give my opinion about if (if you disagree, you can comment on it – if you agree too).

I was at Hillsong Conference 2008 in Sydney, when I bought my copy of the CD/DVD This is Our God and during the Conference we listened to and learned the songs – which I liked very much. Joel Houston took a bigger position of leadership and it changed the face of the band, without getting rid of the Hillsong ‘nametag’. I liked almost every song, in particular ‘Your Name High’, ‘Run’, ‘You’ll Come’ (with ‘Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus’), ‘With Everything’ and ‘Healer’. This last one was a little special, with a word from Mike himself on Friday, when we cried out for his health. It was a moment of great anointing and emotion (that not necessarily walk together).

Weeks later I receive the news that Mike’s disease was, actually, fake that was created to cover his real problem. No need to say that I was shocked when we found out the true. But there is a need to say that I was a little bit sad with some news, messages and posts about Mike. Almost every time people would give their support notes and they would add ‘let’s pray for Mike now‘. It got me thinking: Why not pray before?

This is not the first (and, unfortunately, not the last) time that a brother in Christ has his sins exposed to the world – almost always a scandal. Like Pr. Ted Haggard, Igreja Renascer (a church in Brazil), among others. But what’s the difference between their sins and ours? The answer is just that: none! The difference between us and them is that they weren’t afraid or embarrassed to tell the world who they are: Christian, but human-beings, that made a mistake, make mistakes and will always do.

Why am I saying this? Because lately I got kind of angry with some ‘brothers’ that go online in websites like Orkut and created groups entitled ‘I Hate Ana Paula Valadão’, ‘Igreja Universal is Evil’ or similar things. This is my opinion: Are they doing the work of God? Are they evangelizing? Transforming lives? So, don’t criticize, unless you can do better. If your musical style is not like Lagoinha’s, so start a band with your style, but don’t forget to invest in the Kingdom of God, in Missions and in People as much as them.

Here’s a friendly request: Let’s pray for Mike. But let’s also pray for Ana Paula Valadão, Pr. Antônio Cirilo, David Quinlan, Bola de Neve Church [sorry, many Brazilian Christian 'artists'] and many other brothers in Christ that have taking the Word of God across the nations. Let’s pray after, but also before.

Right! I’ve spoken!

Last Day on Hillsong Conference

// July 12th, 2008 // 1 Comment » // Blog, Music

I’ve just come back from Acer Arena, on Sydney Olympic Park, where we had the last day of the Hillsong Conference and it was awesome! In the afternoon we had a message by Joyce Meyers and in the evening a worship night with United. These guys were there: Joel Houston, Darlene Zschech, Jad Gillies, Nigel Hendroff, Brooke Fraser, Ben Fielding, Jonathon Douglass (JD), Reuben Morgan, Jill McCloghry, and special guests Israel Houghton and Leeland. I’ll say it again: it was awesome! Only Marty Sampson wasn’t there… but it’s okay… I went to a songwriting workshop with him ;)

We also had the special participation of Mike Guglielmucci, with a song named Healer… it was a really special moment, really anointed!

Tomorrow I’m going back to Brazil!!! After about 480 days I’ll be meeting my family again, my girlfriend, my friends… I’m really excited!

I’ll send more news when I get there (or maybe on the way…)

Hillsong Conference

// July 7th, 2008 // 1 Comment » // Blog

Today the Hillsong Conference started here in Sydney… and it was really good! The worship team was almost complete, with Darlene Zschech, Joel Houston, Reuben Morgan, Jonathon Douglass (JD), Rolf Wam Fjell (drummer) and some others. It was awesome!

They sang many songs from their latest album, This is Our God (really good!) and some from their previous albums.

We also had two pastors sharing the Word, Robert Barrington and Judah Smith – also a real blessing!

During the next few days we’ll have some workshops, with the Hillsong Team, Joel Houston, Marcos Witt, Christine Caine, Joyce Meyers and many others… it will be really good, and we’re really excited about it!

That’s me on the photo, in one of our seats (the other one was right next to the stage, about 20 meters away!)

That’s it!

Hillsong Church

I just came from a worship service at Hillsong. One of their main churches (there are 2) is only 20 minutes away from here and we attended a service… Reuben Morgan lead worship and Judah Smith shared the Word. It was awesome!

Also, they released their latest CD… This is Our God… really good!

Last night we went to a youth service and it was great! They are pretty crazy, but also really anointed! =p

On Monday the Conference starts and we’re pretty excited about it!

I’ll send some more news later!

More from Sydney

// July 3rd, 2008 // No Comments » // Blog

Today I went to pick my sister – Mirian – up at the airport. She will be spending 10 days here with me, and then we’ll go back to Brazil together. It’s so good to see someone from my family after so long! =)

We spent the rest of the day walking around the city, getting to know a little bit more of Sydney and enjoying the cold weather – something we don’t have very often in Timor or in Rio ;)

Tomorrow evening we’ll probably attend a youth service at Hillsong! We’re very excited to see United live, in Sydney – their home! We know it’ll be awesome!

That’s all for now… I’ll send more news later!

Last Visa

// June 5th, 2008 // No Comments » // East Timor, Missions

It’s amazing how time goes fast! I just went to the Department of Immigration to renew my Timorese visa for 1 more month – the last one on my journey here in Timor! It doesn’t seem liike I’ve been here for 1 year and 3 months!

Last week I also went to get my Australian Visa. Yep… I’ll be spending 10 days in Sydney, visiting the city, and will take the opportunity to participate on Hillsong Conference! I’ve been planning this for a few months now, but we’ve just been able to finalize this process…

I’m also finalizing my work here… there are still 2 big projects ahead of us, the 2nd Couples’ Retreat, this weekend – this one I’m actually just helping, taking photos and whatever… I’m not married yet, right?

We’ll also have the School of Worshop on the last week of June. It’ll be 5 days long, similar to what we had last year. This year I’m in charge of it a little bit more, maibe even sharing the message one day! ;)

That’s all for now…
