Yan’s Arrival

// June 15th, 2009 // 3 Comments » // Germany, Missions

Last Saturday I went to Frankfurt, with ps. Sérgio, to pick reinforcements for the work up – Yan Miguelote. He is a young man from Comunidade Shamah (a church in Niterói), that was with us in some of our Missionary Weeks and was also a part of Ribeirinhos Project. He was supposed to come together with me, but we heard from God that he should postpone it, but now he is finally here! We also took the time to go around Frankfurt a little and also visit a Brazilian pastor that work in the city. We could bless them and also be blessed by them, who have a ministry at Germany’s entrance! God is faithful!

This week he’ll start in the same German Course I’m taking. Speaking about it, today I got the result from the test from Module 2 and, thank God, I’m on to Module 3!

This Sunday we had with us one of the directors of AVC, a Missions Agency, that was responsible for the trip of The Heavenly Man to Brazil, the same trip that ps. Sérgio took part in, earlier this year. He was sharing with us about the necessity of the reevangelisation of Europe by the Church in Latin America – specially Germany by Brazilians! It was one more confirmation and a ‘cheering up’ for the Germany Project! Glory to God!

Holland and Prayer Letter 2

// May 18th, 2009 // 5 Comments » // Germany, Missions, Prayer Letters

Hey everyone!

It’s been a while since I came here, but it was for a good cause… my parents spent a weekend here with us so I wanted to wait to post some photos with them! ;)

Also, I’ve sent some people another Prayer Letter. If you didn’t get it, you can download it here: Prayer Letter Germany 02. If you want it in Portuguese, you can get it here: Boletim Informativo Alemanha 02.

Finally, here are some photos from our trip to Holland:

From Frankfurt, Germany

// March 20th, 2009 // 2 Comments » // Germany, Missions

After an awesome trip, I arrived in Frankfurt at 2:30pm (10:30 – Brazil time) and am already at the hotel. I’ll stary here until Sunday, when I’ll meet with pr. Sérgio and his wife, sister Margarida, to go to Aachen, where I’ll get to know the church I’ll be working and also the city I’ll live for the next few months.

On Monday I’ll start a German language course and I know it’ll be a blessing, and also help the missionary work here a lot!

Another good thing is the weather here… about 5º Celsius (43º Fahrenheit) – I love cold weather!

As soon as I have more news, I’ll post here!

God bless! (still haven’t found out how to say this in English, but I’ll learn!)

From Santarém, Pará

We arrived in Santarém early Wednesday, spent the day in the city and on Thursday we started going up Tapajós, Arapiuns and Maró rivers. We visited two villages, ministered on evening services and have been deeply impacted by this people, not only by the riverside communities, but by pastors and workers for Igreja da Paz.

In the Prainha community we took care of some children that had injuries and were very touched by that people. Those eyes will always be in our memories. That is a people that have suffered and was abandoned, but they always have a smile in their faces and their doors opens for us at any time. Surely, we will never be the same.

Today we’re going up the Amazon River, going towards another community, after spending the weekend at the city visiting churches and resting a little. We believe God has blessed us greatly and the best is yet to come.

I wanted to send some photos, but internet here is not that good. As soon as I can, I’ll put something here.

God bless!

A few weeks ago I went to Curitiba (southern Brazil) to visit Josh and his church, Comunidade Evangélica de Curitiba. I took part in a youth service and two of their main services – it was really good! I felt at home! The people there is very friendly! =) I could get to know their Maanaim Missions School, which they have in their ranch… I got a little bit “jealous”, to have our own missions school in our chuch… and we believe it’s not far away! The little I stayed there was enough to give me lots of ideas… I thought a lot on the trip back! Apart from that, it was good to get out of Niterói and see other places – I don’t know why, but I love traveling ;)

From next week on we’ll have two Missionary Weeks together in the Cidade de Sião (City of Zion) – the first one only for youth and the second open to everyone. We already have quite a number of people enrolled from other churches in Rio and also some from other states. This is the first time we do one week right after another and with so many people from outside – and we’re sure that it’ll be a blessing! We’re really excited!

Apart from that, we had a missions service at Comunidade Shamah to talk a little bit more about the Ribeirinhos Project. Elaine talked a little about her work in Bolivia and I talked about my work in East Timor and also preached a short message. We’d planned to go to this Project in October, but we postponed it to February, but God knows everything… at His time we’ll go and it’ll be awesome!

As you can see, there’s a lot of things happening! The work doesn’t stop! Let’s not stop either!

Transform World Brazil – Transform Niterói

// November 27th, 2008 // No Comments » // Missions

So many things happened this last few weeks that I had no time to come post something here. But better late than ever, right?

Josh and Claudinha were here in Rio for a few days and it was really cool! We could catch up on a lot of things, besides sharing about our future plans. They also shared at my church a little more about the Timor Project – what happened and what’s about to happen. It was also great because they could get to know Bianca – my girlfriend – better. After all, they heard so much about here when we were in Timor.

The following week I went to São Paulo to participate on Transform World Brazil 2008. I went with my dad and we met Josh there. Those were really great days. I was impacted by some of the messages, in particular in the Focus Group about Transformation through the New Generation, with Ap. Dawidh Alves and Ap. Paulo Tércio – big blessing! In the last day we had a time of worship with Diante do Trono – a ministry from a big church in Brazil. Really good! During the event, little by little, I got involved with interpreting (even an Indonesian brother – maybe next time I’ll translate from Bahasa… who knows?) and, in the last day I interpreted a brother from Uganda, who was sharing about the Model of Transformation of his country. That was good training for Niterói de Joelhos (Bow Down Niterói). I even got a T-shirt!

A few days later we had in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro another conference about Transformation: Niterói de Joelhos (Bow Down Niterói). And it was awesome! Great things happened there… many of which we’re still about to find out. I also worked with transating pr. Labam Jjumba, also from Uganda, besides ministering on a few of the worship moments. I just couldn’t enjoy it as much because I got a flu as a consequence of the really heavy rain that fell on our city on the 17th. But I’m all better now!

Soon we’ll have more details about the Ribeirinhos Project (among the poor communities in the Amazon Jungle). Stay tuned!

Hey y’all!

I’m in Brazil! I got here 4 days ago, and am still getting adapted with the time zone, but just had to send my last Prayer Letter. Actually, almost last. Until the end of the week (God willing!!) I’ll finish a more detailed report of our work in Timor and will send it to you.

But for now… Prayer Letter 16! ;)

If you want it in Portuguese, just click here.

May God bless you greatly!

Darwin, Australia

// July 1st, 2008 // No Comments » // Blog

I left Dili earlier today, trying not to cry, with my heart almost sunk… some friends went to the airport to “farewell me” and only then I could realize how hard it’s going to be! But it’s alright… maybe I’ll go back one day ;)

I spent the whole day today in Darwin, north of Australia. I walked around the city, which is not big, took photos, rested a little, met some pretty cool mates from the YWAM base here… it was a nice day

Now I’m here at the airport, waiting to board on the flight to Sydney, in 1 hour. The butterflies on my stomach showed up again… another dream coming true! God is awesome!

In Sydney I’ll try to send my last most recent Prayer Letter… I’ll also send some news as soon as something new comes up! ;)

Last Post in Timor

// June 30th, 2008 // No Comments » // East Timor, Missions

Well… it has been 15 months of a lot of experiences, news, friendships, adventures… it will be hard to stay away from here, even though I know that it’s God’s time for me to go back.

Tomorrow morning I’ll be going to Darwin, Australia and Wednesday I’ll go to Sydney. I believe that it will be a fun trip… another dream being fulfilled… glory to God!

Today is my last day here and I didn’t want to not post here… I wanted to send a last post and thank each and every one of you for all the support. May God bless you more and more!

Stay tuned for more news! ;)

Back to Timor

// February 6th, 2008 // No Comments » // East Timor, Missions

Hey all!

Well… here I am back again in Timor, after spending a few days traveling a little. I’m still getting used with Timor time zone once more, but I think that in 1 or 2 days everything will go back to normal…

Thank God, everything here is being a blessing… the same way it was when I left ;)

I’m almost back to regular work… as soon as I got here had to solve some problems. Next week everything starts again. We’ll start some English classes with university students. In the beginning it will last for 2 weeks, but we have plans to continue a little longer. Be praying for that!

I’m also moving to Zé’s (who’s in Brazil now) and Saula’s place. They are 2 missionaries… Saula from Tonga and Zé from Ribeirão Preto, Brazil. They’ve been friends of mine since I got here, and now we’ll be “roommates”… just to change my life here a little bit… hehehe. We believe it’s going to be an interesting experience ;)

That’s all for now… I’ll write more on my Prayer Letter, that I should finish this week.

Maromak fo bensaun! God bless!
